Monastery of Tulebras Museum
San Bernardo, s/n

The
museum holds a collection of religious art from the Monastery of
St María de la Caridad of Tulebras, the first female Cistercian
community in Spain (1147); the collection basically covers the 16th,
17th and 18th centuries. Of particular note
is the painted altarpiece on the Dormition of the Virgin and the
painting of the Holy Trinity by Jerónimo Cósida, both of the
Mannerist Renaissance style, in addition to the Virgin of the Bed,
an example of the baroque-style dressed sculptures, of
extraordinary iconographic rareness. In addition to the exhibits
of silverware, songbooks and furniture, it is also possible to
visit the adjoining Romanesque tower which holds items of
archaeological interest. The exhibition room is located in the
former 12th century bedroom.
