Julián Gayarre House - Museum

This
house is the birthplace of Julián Gayarre Garjón (1844 – 1890)
the great tenor from Roncal, specialising in Italian and German
opera. The house was adapted to a museum by the architect Luis
Tena and exhibits personal items and documents relating to this
famous opera singer. The
three floors display photos, nominations, medals, music scores,
gifts, clothing and personal items, all under the care of the
“Julián Gayarre” Foundation. At the village cemetery it is
possible to visit the mausoleum where the tenor lies; the work of
the renowned sculptor, Mariano Benlliure.
Opening times: April to September, Tuesday to Sundays,
from 11,30 to 13,30 h and from 17 to 19 h. October – March:
Saturdays and Sundays, from 11.30 to 13,30 h and from 16 to 18 h.
Closed on Mondays and at Christmas.
